The Physical Education Study Program Carries Out Community Service with The Theme Empowerment of Elementary School Teachers in Sukaraja District in Facing The 2022 National Student Sports Competition

Sports development and coaching must start from elementary school by involving potential young athletes based on the results of monitoring and developing sports talent. In this regard, teachers have a very important role in conducting the selection process and fostering the potential of every prospective athlete in the school. The process of selection and coaching of athletes from elementary school to college age is the main key to getting sports achievements on a national and international scale. In order to implement this, the government continues to strive to improve achievements in the field of sports, one of these efforts is to hold the National Student Sports Olympiad which is currently changing its name to the National Student Sports Competition or commonly referred to as KOSN. The purpose of this prestigious event is to get young athletes at school age. To be able to take part in this prestigious event, athletes from each school must follow a long selection starting from the selection at the District, Regency, and Provincial levels. The selected athlete will represent the Province to compete/compete at the national level.

The initial step to improve the achievement of elementary school students in Sukaraja District in the National Student Sports Competition is to empower sports teachers through training program preparation workshops, physical component test equipment development workshops, and nutrition program preparation workshops for elementary school-age athletes. The activity was carried out by a service team from University of Bengkulu led by Yahya Eko Nopiyanto, S.Pd, M.Pd from the physical education study program, with 1 member being Bogy Restu Divine, M.Pd who is also a lecturer in the physical education study program, and member 2 is Diah Ayu Aguspa Dita S.Kep., Ns., M.Biomed from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Bengkulu.

The service activities that have been carried out are expected to be able to increase the knowledge of sports teachers regarding the preparation of exercise programs, the development of physical component test kits, and the preparation of nutrition programs for elementary school age athletes that can be implemented in extracurricular sports coaching at schools. So the output is an increasing in student achievement in the National Student Sports Competition.
