The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Bengkulu was officially established in 1982 based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 17 of 1982. The Dean of FKIP at that time was held by the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Bengkulu Province, Drs. Hidayat Marzuki. In 1983 the Dean of FKIP was held by Drs. Aznan Yatim. In 1991 the Dean was held by Drs. Suwaryono for a year. Furthermore, from 1991 to 1996 the Dean of FKIP was held by Dr. Jalius Jama, M.Ed. From 1996 to 2000, Dr. H. Sofyan Siraj Willis, M.Pd. From 2000 to 2004 the Dean of FKIP was held by Drs. H. Moh. Nasirun, M.Pd. UNIB FKIP lecturer. From 2004 to 2012 the Dean of FKIP was held by Prof. Drs. Safnil, MA., Ph.D. UNIB FKIP lecturer. From 2012 to 2016 the Dean of FKIP was held by Prof. Dr. Rambat Nur Sasongko, M.Pd.

Since its establishment in 1982, FKIP UNIB has organized study programs for S1 Education Administration, Diploma 1 Mathematics Education, Diploma 1 Science and Diploma 1 PMP. In 1982-1983 added the program by holding D3 Indonesian, D3 English and D3 Mathematics Education. In 1983/1984 the Indonesian language undergraduate study program was held. In 1985/1986 opened the D2 Mathematics program. In 1987/1988, the D3 Biology and Physics program was opened. Furthermore, in 1991 FKIP UNIB held the D2 PGSD Pre-service program and in 1992 held the D2 PGSD Equalization. This program was opened as a realization of the 9-year compulsory education program. In 1993 added an English S1 program. In 1995, the Undergraduate Program in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics was opened. In 2003, the D2 PGTK program was opened which in 2007 changed to a S1 Early Childhood Education study program. In 2002, the PLS S1 study program was opened and the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education Department was established. In 2001, the D2 Penjaskes program was opened and held the Master of Education Program. In 2006 FKIP UNIB began to organize S1 PGSD TID programs and Boarding and Regular Programs. In 2007 FKIP Bengkulu University began to open an Independent S1 program for the Physics S1 program, English S1 program, and was trusted by the Higher Education to organize an In-service Teacher Certification program through the Educational Path for the English program. In 2004 a letter of approval from the Higher Education was issued to open the Masters in Administration/Education Management Master’s program. In 2007 a letter of approval from Dikti was issued to open the Masters Program in Indonesian Language Education. In 2008 an independent program was opened again for the Indonesian Language Undergraduate program and an equalization program for PAUD and PGSD teachers was opened in collaboration with the District Education Office and held a collaborative program for the procurement of PGSD undergraduate teachers with the Kepahiang Regional Government which began in 2007. Likewise for the procurement of D2 Physical Education teachers. Physical Education in collaboration with the North Bengkulu Diknas, in collaboration with Bengkulu City 2 Public High School in the context of implementing international standard school pilots. In 2009 it was approved by the Directorate of Higher Education to open the PMIPA Masters Program and Educational Technology Masters Program to start accepting new students and the Mathematics Education Master’s Degree Program has received permission to organize in 2010 and 2009 it has been approved by Dikti to open the Physical Education S1 program, for 2010/2011 6 is allowed to open again Counseling Guidance S1 Study Program and started to accept new students. Meanwhile, in 2011, Bengkulu University FKIP was trusted by DIKTI to manage the PPGT program whose students came from the provinces of Aceh and East Nusa Tenggara. In 2012 FKIP Bengkulu University was again trusted by DIKTI to manage PPGT students from Papua, NTT, and Aceh. Furthermore, Bengkulu University FKIP in 2010 in collaboration with Jakarta State University opened a Doctoral Program in Education Management Administration and in 2011 opened a Doctoral Program in Language Education (FKIP, 2011). In 2016 FKIP accepted new students for the first batch of the Doctoral Program (S3) in Education. Thus, until now FKIP University of Bengkulu has 20 study programs consisting of 1 Diploma Program (D-III), 11 Bachelor Programs (S1), 7 Masters Programs (S2), and 1 Doctoral Program (S3).
