Dozens of students from the English Education Program are a part of the International Virtual Environment (IVE) Project, which has representatives from 28 countries.
Participating in the International Virtual Exchange (IVE) Project will be an opportunity for seventy students enrolled in the English Language Study Program of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNIB who are enrolled in the Grammar in Spoken Discourse course during the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. These students will join and interact with ten thousand students from twenty-eight countries worldwide.
In the previous period, from October to December 2022, the Lecturer of the Grammar Course in Spoken Discourse, Dr. Wisma Yunita, M.Pd, was successful in involving 72 students (two classes) to participate in the activity until it was finished, which explains why students will be involved in the even semester of 2022/2023.
“The IVE Project Coordinator invited me back to participate in the even semester of 2022/2023.” “Because this activity is very beneficial for students, I will register another 70 students (two classes),” stated Dr. Wisma Yunita, M.Pd., Lecturer for the Grammar in Spoken Discourse course at the English Study Programme FKIP UNIB.
According to Dr. Wisma Yunita, before deciding to re-enroll students in the activities associated with the IVE Project, she gave questionnaires with open-ended inquiries to students who participated in the IVE Project during the previous period.
The responses to the questionnaire revealed that the students thought they were highly pleased, satisfied, and ready to participate in this activity again if they were requested to do so. “If there is a chance for students to participate in the IVE Project, they are overflowing with excitement and eagerness to do so.” Thus, I re-enrolled seventy students in this batch,” stated Dr. Wisma Yunita, the Head of the UPT Language UNIB.

In the initial activities, the lecturers interacted through the Teacher Forum. They previously introduced themselves and filled out their profiles on the IVE Project platform. They then participated in discussions and watched videos on how to carry out their roles as lecturers in the IVE Project.
Dr. Wisma provides a portion of 25% of the total assessment for IVE project activities by using weekly portfolio reports collected via Google Drive so that there is no more use of paper in the lecture process. In addition, lectures run the same as lectures in general; there are still 16 meetings, assignments, and UAS for the Grammar in Written Discourse course.
All learning processes also use technology in the form of the Moodle IVE project platform, WhatsApp group, Video Editor and Google Drive. Through this activity, students interact with students from 28 countries, such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Colombia, Peru, Morocco, Argentina, and Zimbabwe, through various menus in the learning management system.
